Harness Racing in Kajaani
Harness racing is a fast-paced sport that offers unforgettable experiences and excitement. Finland is one of the top countries in Europe in harness racing, and Finnish expertise of harness racing represents the top of the world.
In addition to the Vermo main race track, there are 18 regional racetracks in Finland. One of them is in Kuluntalahti, located about 10 kilometers north from Kajaani. The race track is easily accessible along the highway number 5.
The track and the training areas are kept in a good condition throughout the year, but the competitions are focused on the summer season. The competition activities are partly run by team of volunteers, and the regional clubs play a significant role in running the activities.

Värikallio Rock Paintings
The paintings of Värikallio, made with blood and red ochre, are estimated to be 3,500–4,500 years old. More than 60 figures can be identified from the sheer rock wall rising out of Lake Somerjärvi.
