National Parks

Hiidenportti

Hiidenportti National Park is located in the southeastern corner of the municipality of Sotkamo, bordering the municipalities of Kuhmo and Valtimo.

Hossa

Hossa National Park is located between the Viitostie (Highway 5, E63) and Suomussalmi–Murtovaara (no. 843) roads in the northern part of Suomussalmi, partly in the municipalities of Kuusamo and Taivalkoski.

Tiilikkajärvi

Tiilikkajärvi National Park is located for the most part in the municipality of Rautavaara. It is on the north side of road 87. Tiilikkajärvi is 80 km from Iisalmi, 75 km from Kajaani, 55 km from Nurmes and 90 km from Kuopio.

Ärjänsaari Island

Ärjänsaari Island offers you a chance to watch magnificent weather displays from the high sand terraces of the island. You can enjoy the heat of the sun, the rumbling thunder and the gentle summer breeze on this paradise island. The long sandy beaches and the tall sand cliffs provide an ideal setting for various lakeside activities. Ärjänsaari Island has been reserved for nature conservation.
