Downhill Skiing in Kainuu

There are three ski resorts in Kainuu: Vuokatti, Ukkohalla and Paljakka. As the distances between the three resorts are shorts, it’s quite easy to hop from one resort to another during your stay. Families with children might also be interested try the smaller slopes of Vimpelinvaara in Kajaani or Saukkovaara in Ristijärvi.

Paljakka is located right amid the highest fells in Kainuu. Skiers especially praise the condition of the 10 slopes and their profile, as well as the fact that skiing can be enjoyed without big crowds even in the high season. The slopes’ location in the snowiest area in Finland ensure that the snow conditions are good even with natural snow.

Ukkohalla is a family resort that has something for everyone, and where winter fun is guaranteed. All the 16 slopes are wide enough to provide safety and the longest slope is 1400 meters long. Two snow parks.
