WELCOME TO PALJAKKA
When you first reach the hills and lakes of Puolanka a chance meeting with a glassy eyed reindeer will tell you that you have now crossed over into the area of reindeer husbandry which streches from Kajaani Region (Kainuu) right up to the northern tip of Lapland.
Paljakka holiday resort is located in Puolanka municipality. Ukkohalla resort (in Hyrynsalmi) is located very close, only 20km (20 min) from each other. These two resorts together offers wide range of interesting programme for your stay.
Puolanka nature offers much in terms of recreation. There are plenty of outdoor activities to try here.

Hallan Saaga Wellness & Sauna World: lNEW, opened in September 2005. Hallan Saaga is located by a beautiful lake right in the centre of Ukkohalla resort. For sauna experiences you find different types of saunas, eg. Russian banya, Karelian Sauna, Finnish Sauna and steam bath. Wintertime ice swiming in the lake is very relaxing after an active day! Fittness programmes, massage, aromatherapy treatments also available. Restaurant, bar, outdoor terrace with grand view over the lake.
Kiannon Kuohut Spa Hotel: located within half an hour's drive from Paljakka in Suomussalmi.

Golf: Paltamo Golf (approx. 30 min drive from Paljakka), golf course also in Vuokatti (1h drive from Paljakka)
Hepoköngäs: Finland's highest 24-metre, untouched waterfall is one of the region's most wellknown and popular sights. A trip to this thundering waterfall is guaranteed to clear the mind.
Pirunkirkko (Devil's Church): a gorge sheltered by primeval spruce trees. Just the high rocky walls and stone pulpit make it a sight worth seeing.'
Hiidenkirkko and Vorlokki canyons: these canyons take the form of deep gorges in the bedrock which remain filled with snow and ice well into the summer.

Nearest airport: Kajaani (65 km, 1 h driving time to Paljakka / Puolanka)
Nearest railway station: (65 km, 1 h driving time to Paljakka / Puolanka)
Kajaani Region (Kainuu) consist of many holiday destinations, located close to each other and thus easily reached by car where ever the visitor chooses to overnight. The excellent road network serves the whole region and connects even the remotes villages.
